Blending Inks on the Riso Workshop

You’ll learn how to use the risograph both digitally and with the scanner bed, and experiment with layering and blending inks. Students will leave with a two-color print of their own design and a CMYK risograph print of a chosen photograph.
Students will be eligible for printer rentals after taking this workshop.
Junk Journaling Night

Junk journal with riso scraps, stickers, washi tape, and magazines. A relaxed, creative night to collage, experiment, and connect.
Spend a creative evening junk journaling at District Riso. Flip, layer, and collage using a mix of risograph scraps, misprints, and colorful paper, along with stickers, washi tape, magazines, and other fun materials.
This is a relaxed, no-pressure space to experiment, build pages, and connect with other creatives. Bring your own journal or start fresh with materials available on-site.

Print & Sip

Bring a project you’ve been wanting to print and spend a relaxed evening at District Riso. During Print & Sip, you’ll get guidance from owner Danielle as she walks you through the risograph process, from setup to final prints. Whether you’re brand new or have some experience, this is a low-pressure way to learn, experiment, and get your work on paper.
You’ll also have time to chat with other local artists and printers, share ideas, and enjoy a couple of drinks along the way. Each ticket includes two glasses of wine or juice.
Please note: This is not a workshop to learn how to use the printer. Just a fun way to get some work printed & chat with local artists and makers.
Printing costs are pay-as-you-go:

Risograph Zines

Discover the world of zines with District Riso! In this workshop you’ll learn the basics of zine-making and Risograph printing, explore different one-page folds, and create your own zine using markers, pencils, and collage materials. After the workshop, your design will be printed at District Riso’s studio, and you’ll be able to pick up 10 copies of your zine to keep, share, or trade.

Analog Riso

Make a two-color poster or zine using the Riso scan bed and analog materials. Draw, paint, stamp, or collage using paper, ink, found objects, fabric, leaves, ephemera, and more. Come with an idea or just to explore. You’ll leave with 10 copies of your work.

Intro to Risograph Printing

Curious about risograph? This beginner-friendly workshop is the perfect place to start. Bring a digital artwork, and we’ll guide you through the basics of how the machine works, how to separate your design into ink layers, and how risograph color builds through overprinting. Each participant will print and take home 10 of their own 2-color prints, along with a solid foundation for future riso projects.

Intro to Riso Zines

Discover the world of zines with District Riso in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop celebrating self-expression, storytelling, and DIY publishing. You’ll be introduced to the history and creative culture of zines, small self-made booklets that have long been used to share art, ideas, personal stories, and community voices.
During the workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of zine-making and get an introduction to Risograph printing, a unique process known for its vibrant colors, layered textures, and playful handmade feel. Participants will explore several one-page folding techniques, then design their own original zine using markers, pencils, collage materials, and guided prompts for inspiration.
Whether you want to create something personal, political, poetic, or purely playful, this class offers space to experiment and make something entirely your own. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and creativity.
After the workshop, your completed design will be professionally printed at District Riso’s home studio, and you’ll receive 10 copies of your finished zine to keep, share with friends, trade with fellow artists, or add to your creative portfolio.

Digital Poster Design for Riso

Learn how to design bold, colorful posters specifically for risograph printing in this beginner-friendly workshop! During the first half of class, students will create a digital poster in Figma while learning foundational design techniques including layout, typography, composition, and color planning for riso printing. We’ll also cover how to separate artwork into printable color layers and prep files for the risograph process.
In the second half of class, students will print their posters on the risograph printer and leave with their own vibrant art prints to take home.
No prior design experience is required. Just come ready to experiment and make something fun.
Students must bring their own laptop. Access to Figma and all printing materials will be provided.

Subjective Map Making

This hands-on workshop explores the art of subjective mapmaking. Participants will examine their memories and experiences of the city and draw on these reflections to create map-zines using illustration, collage, hand-lettering, and simple binding. The zines will transform personal experiences into spatial narratives that capture the intangible qualities of our environments.

Make Your Own Cynaotype Tote Bag

Discover the magic of cyanotype printing in this tote bag workshop! Participants will learn the basics of this historic photographic process by arranging objects, plants, transparencies, and other materials onto pre-treated fabric tote bags. Using sunlight and water, we’ll create bold blue-and-white prints with unique textures and layered compositions.
This workshop is beginner-friendly and encourages experimentation, play, and creativity. Each participant will leave with their own one-of-a-kind cyanotype tote bag.

Design, print, and press your own risograph buttons. Make pins, then trade, share, or keep them in this fun, beginner-friendly workshop.
Turn your ideas into wearable art in this risograph workshop at District Riso. You’ll start by creating your own button designs, then learn the basics of risograph printing as we produce 8 copies of your artwork.
Once your prints are ready, you’ll use a button maker to transform them into finished pins. Trade with other participants, share with friends, or keep your full set.
This workshop is beginner-friendly and a fun way to explore printmaking in a relaxed, social setting. All materials are provided. Just bring your ideas!
